Talented performing artists: youth, college students, and professionals seeking to improve their performance technique, train with Mike Asetta. Instruction is offered in classical and jazz double bass; jazz, rock, and contemporary electric bass; and jazz combo skills to piano and guitar players.

Mike’s own education and learning experience is extensive: Master’s degree in performance from Yale University (Donald Palma principal instructor), master’s classes with Gary Karr, private study with Dave Santoro and Michael Moore, and decades of teaching experience at the following institutions: Green Farms Academy Westport , Neighborhood Music School, New Haven, and the Hartford Conservatory. Mike develops and supports each student’s artistic growth by establishing high standards while following a mentorship teaching model.

Prize winning past students include: Matthew Brvenik, best solo double bass competition New England High School Music Festival, currently earning a Master’s in performance at Carnegie Mellon and Jordan Brint who was the only Connecticut student performer in the 2012 United States Honor Ensemble Jazz Band at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC!
